The number of SFD ongoing projects rises to 56
By mid-August, the number of SFD under-implementation projects rose to 56 projects, including 40 projects in the Cash-for-Work sector and 16 projects in the Water and Environment sector. Implementation of some 18 projects in both sectors is now being ready to be resumed this week. Despite the ongoing significant shortfall in funding and critical security situation in many Yemeni governorates, these under-implementation projects could cover remote and poor communities in nine governorates of Taiz, Ibb, Al-Hodeida, Hadramout and, Raymah, Hajjah, Amran, Dhamar and Al-Baydha.
Most projects have focused on the construction of private and public water harvesting reservoirs, reclamation of agricultural land, rehabilitation of agricultural terraces, protection of watershed areas, and construction of feeder roads. These projects employ the poor from these areas to benefit from the work wage and from outputs of the projects.
