Within its
mandate to develop the SFD Communication
Strategy, the Monitoring and Evaluation Unit
concluded phase II of the project by
holding two consultative workshops with a
number of SFD significant stakeholders
including members of the Parliament on the
one hand and with a number of other
representatives of relevant sectoral
ministries, donors, international
organizations and civil society
organizations working in development in
addition to a number of SFD units heads and
managers of the branches. The workshops
aimed to take advantage of their perceptions
and attitudes on the SFD activities and
their views of various ways to improve
performance through communication between
the SFD and its various partners.
In order to
involve all audience categories of partners
at the national, local and rural levels, the
unit contracted a local consulting firm who
carried out the field study on audience
survey to collect and analyze the views of
staff at the level of the SFD and the
beneficiary and non beneficiary committees
at the governorate, district and community
levels of Hodeidah, Ibb and Shabwa that
included representatives of the government,
the local councils, local community
organizations, the local media, religious
preachers and community members by taking
into account the concept of gender.
The objective of
the study was that the strategy composers
understand the SFD internal communication
environment and the nature of all the
stakeholders and audience, as well as the
extent to which they understand in general
about the work of the SFD, to identify their
information needs and sources of information
on the SFD.
During the
meetings and the study, which used the
methods of joint meetings and focus group
discussion (FGD), individual interviews,
listening to the stakeholders' views on the
SFD activities, policies, systems that they
have understood through its publications and
media products. The stakeholders also
proposed their preferred means of
communication with the SFD staff of the
various sectors. |
